Terms & Conditions
Last updated: March 28, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using WhatShipped at whatshipped.dev (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.
2. Description of Service
WhatShipped is an AI-powered release notes generator. It connects to your git hosting provider (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket), fetches commit data between two references (tags, branches, or commits), and uses a large language model to produce formatted release notes. The Service is provided "as is" and is subject to change without notice.
3. Account Registration and Security
To use the Service you must create an account, either via email and password or through a supported OAuth provider. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information.
- Keep your password or OAuth credentials confidential and not share them with third parties.
- Notify us immediately at support@whatshipped.dev if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or that we reasonably suspect have been compromised.
4. Credits and Payments
- Generating release notes consumes credits from your balance. The credit cost per generation depends on the number of commits processed and the AI model selected.
- Credits are purchased in bundles. All purchases are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store payment card details.
- Credits are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. Unused credits are forfeited upon account deletion.
- Prices are displayed in USD and are subject to change. Changes will not affect credits already purchased.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Abuse or circumvent rate limits, credit requirements, or other usage controls.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service or its API beyond normal use.
- Submit content to the LLM pipeline that violates the terms of service of Anthropic or OpenAI, or that is illegal, harmful, or abusive.
- Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to generate release notes for repositories you do not have the right to access.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice for violations of this section.
6. API Usage
API keys issued through the Service are personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for all requests made using your API key. Do not share your API key publicly. If you believe your API key has been compromised, revoke it immediately from the API Keys section of your dashboard and generate a new one. Rate limits apply to API usage; we reserve the right to modify limits at any time.
7. Intellectual Property
The WhatShipped platform, including its software, branding, and design, is the intellectual property of WhatShipped and its licensors.
Release notes generated using the Service are based on your commit data and belong to you. We claim no ownership over generated output. You grant us a limited licence to process and store the generated notes solely to provide the Service to you.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WhatShipped shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content will be accurate or complete.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Danger Zone. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
